I have been seeing a lot of upholstered dining chairs, many with nailheads. Everyone, including Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, and Horchow, has their own variation.
We start with inspiration:

Followed by sketches:

The main things we can do to bring them "into the now" are:
1. lower the back
2. upholster all the way around the seat and back
3. add nailheads
4. add some padding to puff it up
5. refinish the legs
What a fun project (to be tackled at a later date)! Thanks Papa G!
